Isle of Wight Studio
Design-led architecture across the Island
Our Isle of Wight Studio
We are ARB-registered architects based in Shanklin, Isle of Wight. Since 2020 we have worked on projects across the Island — from modest house extensions in Ryde to new coastal dwellings in the Island's AONB and sensitive restorations of Victorian and listed buildings throughout the Island's towns and villages.
Our deep knowledge of Isle of Wight planning — including the Island's AONB designation, its separate planning authority, and its stock of Victorian seaside and rural historic properties — means we can give clients informed, realistic advice from the first conversation.

Areas We Serve
Our home studio. Victorian seaside terraces, cliff-top new builds and coastal renovation projects.
Extensions, loft conversions and refurbishments to the town's wide range of Victorian and post-war housing stock.
Listed building alterations, AONB design and the steeply terraced Victorian townscape of the Island's south coast.
Commercial projects, town-centre change of use applications and residential development in the Island's capital.
Conservation area applications, Georgian and Victorian terrace extensions in the Island's yachting capital.
The Island's largest town — extensions, loft conversions and new builds across a varied residential stock.
Coastal and waterfront residential projects, AONB design guidance and rural extensions in the east Wight.
AONB new builds, rural barn conversions and farm outbuilding renovations in the west of the Island.
Historic town extensions, conservation area applications and waterfront residential design.
Coastal new builds and rural extensions in the AONB-designated western tip of the Island.
Rural and agricultural buildings in the underpopulated south Wight, with strong AONB planning considerations.
Remote cliff-top and downland sites demanding careful handling of AONB policy and coastal planning constraints.
Isle of Wight Expertise
AONB planning knowledge. Over half of the Isle of Wight is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. We understand the policies that govern development in the AONB and know how to design proposals that succeed within its constraints.
Isle of Wight Council. The Island has its own unitary planning authority — separate from the mainland — with its own local plan, policies and officers. Our established relationships and familiarity with the authority's processes give clients an advantage.
Victorian seaside properties. Much of the Island's housing stock dates from the Victorian era. We are experienced in extending, adapting and restoring these properties sympathetically while improving their performance.
Thatched cottages and rural farmhouses. We have worked on a number of the Island's thatched and rural historic properties, navigating listed building consent and working with traditional materials.
Coastal and cliff-top new builds. The Island's coastline offers exceptional sites for new build dwellings. We have experience of coastal planning policy, flood risk and the design challenges of exposed coastal locations.
