The Studio
Architecture across London
Our London studio is based at 55 Whitfield Street in Fitzrovia. We work with clients across London: whole-house transformations of Georgian and Victorian properties, listed building work in Kensington and Chelsea, substantial family houses in Richmond and Wandsworth, and workplace and hospitality projects in the centre.
We bring the same design rigour and personal service to our London projects as to our Isle of Wight work. Wherever your project is located, there is a Woods Architects studio close to it, and every commission is led by Lewis, with the same senior involvement throughout.

London Expertise
London-specific planning know-how
Six things that shape every London project.
Most central and inner London is in a designated conservation area. We know how to design and detail to satisfy conservation officers without compromising the architecture.
Listed Building Consent applications, sensitive interventions to historic fabric, specialist contractors.
Many London projects trigger a Party Wall Act notice. We coordinate Party Wall surveyors and design from the start to minimise disputes.
Side-return widths, rear-garden depth limits, daylight to neighbours, BRE rights-to-light: London's sites are constrained in ways country sites aren't.
Mansard consents and borough-by-borough roofscape policy. We know what each authority will and won't approve.
London stock brick matching, lime mortars, sash window restoration, period plasterwork. We work with specialist contractors who do this work properly.

Fitzrovia
Our London studio is based in Fitzrovia. We work across central London on private homes, workplace and hospitality projects, and the reinvention of period buildings.
North London
North London's Victorian and Edwardian stock rewards ambitious reinvention: whole-house transformations and work to period and listed homes across its conservation areas.
Richmond
Richmond's conservation areas, Article 4 directions and listed riverside properties call for sensitive, confident design: period transformations and riverside homes.
South East London
From Georgian terraces to warehouse conversions, South-East London offers scope for substantial transformations, new houses and design-led development.
South West London
South-West London's conservation areas and Article 4 directions demand sensitive design. We work on substantial family houses and period transformations across Wandsworth, Richmond and Kingston.
West London
West London's listed building stock and conservation areas in Kensington, Chelsea and Notting Hill require rigorous planning and design expertise.
